Two types of people, those that have been fired, and those that will be fired. Watch Preview
During COVID-19, a lot of radio jobs were eliminated. A few years have gone by, and it has not let up. More jobs are expected to be cut in 2025. To my friends in the Radio Business, I say there are only two types of people working in radio, especially On-Air Talent and Program Directors. Those that "have" been fired, and those that are "going" to be fired. During Covid, I posted on my social media channels that this would eventually affect the record companies. As you can see, unfortunately, that prediction has come true.
Don't be surprised to see many television stations also start cutting their staff. Young demos are just not interested in the things I was interested in growing up. They have far too many choices. Thankfully, I started investing in myself and, most importantly, learning new job skills inside and outside of radio. I can honestly say that I'm having more fun now than ever. There's a whole big world out there. You need to start exploring.
Yes, keeping your eye on the RADIO business is OK. I have not stopped receiving all the tip sheets. I stay on top of all news articles regarding the Broadcasting industry that first captured my heart when I was in high school. And if the right deal were to come, I would return to the party.
There's much to celebrate. This is a quick course on how to deal with that.
